Hello world!

Welcome to Healthcare Interoperability! This blog is dedicated to the world of Healthcare Information Technology and all that it implies. The focus of much of my writing will be on how to get to that elusive goal of interoperable systems between healthcare providers in the United States, both large and small.

With the US Federal Government focusing in on healthcare as a major theme of the current administration’s tenure, this has changed the discussion and the focus of all of the IT leadership of hospitals, physician practices and others to concentrate their efforts to implementing electronic medical records in order to be able to demonstrate “Meaningful Use’ (we will go into what that means for organizations in this blog as well).

When I discuss what is happening in the healthcare domain to individuals that are possibly new to this industry, I compare it to what happened in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) industry in the late 1990s in order to be Y2k compliant.

I eagerly look forward to gaining insights from professional contacts and close friends while blogging about this vertical. We are certainly in the midsts of interesting times.
